Irctc Service Unavailable:So many Complaints Yet No Action

Irctc Online service is  the most Horrible service I have ever come across in my entire life.Its the same old story whenever i try to book tickets for my family on seasonal holidays(on the first day) or to travel on friday or sunday.I make preparations to book my ticket only to find the service unavailable error when I try to log in.I am a nocturnal character N i just hate getting up early from my bed(I m still single ).I need to book tickets for my brother Vimal who is currently pursuing his MSc in Coimbatore.So I need to get up early,maybe around 6 am.Then i go to the bathroom take a shower put on some wear,then I watch news for a few minutes.In the meantime I also check whether my internet is working else I need to run to the nearest booking Station(Thiruvanmiyur)which is approximately 3 clicks from my home.But I feel so lazy to do that(Sorry I am a very indolent guy ).

                                                                 As the time inches towards 8,I can hear my parents trying to Intimidate me about the Service Unavailable error especially my mom,as she walks past me,making faces as to provoke me.And it does instigate fear in me.Trust me on that.If I can’t enter Irctc website by 8.10 Am, I can forget about booking ticket,as it would have entered the Waiting list quota(Around 30 or 40).So definitely thats something to be frowned upon.Then around 7 or 7.15 I clear my internet cache & other things reset my Ip(Just taking a few precautions).Around 7.30 I start with my breakfast N finish it by 7.40.In just T-minus 2o minutes,my Tantalizing experience with Ticket booking is about to start.At 7.50 I recheck whether My internet is still working & then I’ll listen to some of my favourite tracks(Which includes Backstreet boys,Linkin Park,SlimShady,2Pac etc).Then I head over the Irctc website @ 7.59 and enter my username N password and will be waiting for my laptop clock to strike 8.When it does,I click almost Instantly N what do I get:SERVICE UNAVAILABLE .Good God!This is the same old story which gets repeated every Wednesday N Friday when I try to book my ticket.Thankfully A person named Sunil Bhaskar has found a fix for this SERVICE UNAVAILABLE ERROR.The link to that post can be found here.Well atleast we now have a temporary fix.But last week when i tried to book tickets as usual,the tickets ran into the Waiting List (W/L 56/51)by 8.05 itself.Whats going On?!?!?!?I have never seen the tickets run into Waiting List so fast.Is there any change in the Tatkal Bookings?Am I missing anything?

Irctc Service Unavailable:Possible Fix using Greasemonkey

Having problems while trying to log in to Irctc website at 8 A.M?Thanks to a Greasemonkey script we can now hack into the website and try to improve the chances of getting the ticket booked.Although i dunno who invented the script,but i am really grateful to him to come to our aid,where it should have the Irctc guys to help us out.Ok this works as follows:
1)Install the greasemonkey pluggin for Firefox from here.If you’ve already installed the script, uninstall it (Tools->Greasemonkey->ManageUserScripts, select AJAXAvailability and click Uninstall).
2)Run the javascript from here.Its virus free.I assure you.Install it( This will be automatically be taken over by greasemonkey.)
                                  So practically the next time after you log into irctc and head over to the plan my travel page,the script will be loaded automatically as shown below:

What actually Happens:
                                                    This grease monkey actually adds another column so that you need not wait to check for availability(a feature available in irctc beta version which is always down irrespective of time).We are just manipulating the UI. It uses a XPath expression to get the list of train numbers from the HTML content and then queries availability information from the server by generating the same query string that a click on the “Show Availability” button generates.
                                                             Personally even i have a rough time getting through Irctc in the wee hours of booking.I keep trying to get inside and i can get in with a probability of .7.Once in i generally encounter SERVICE UNAVAILABLE error and i press f5 and i doing to continously might get the page loaded up and you can proceed to the next stage.This trick really works.But caution: 

                                         Don not refresh(f5) or press backspace when you are in the payment gateway.If you do,everything you have done will go waste and you will get an online error instantly.

Irctc Service Unvailable:When is it Really Available?

When is it really available when you need it to?After all the preparations i make to book the ticket for my brother in the morning all i get is SERVICE UNAVAILABLE.It works perfectly before 8 A.M,even at 7:59.But when it strikes 8,it just throws this error.This has been the case for more than atleast 2 years in a row.Recently i came to know that Irctc has released its Beta version which according to Irctc director Subir Agrawal, , business consulting, South Asia Pacific -“IRCTC is one of the busiest e-commerce website in Asia. Due to the high traffic and number of people using the website, IRCTC has launched a new beta version which is much faster access over the older version of IRCTC Online Ticket Booking Engine. The new Beta version launched has much user friendly interface, it has fewer advertisements and graphics used are also attractive.”

 You can login to the new beta version of IRCTC site at http://www.irctc.co.in/cgi-bin/beta.dll/irctc/services/home.do. When i tried to log in today in the Beta version all i get is this:

Thanks a lot guys.You guys really rock.You cant even handle the traffic and you put banners and ads to publicize as if you were doing great favors for the customers.Irctc employs thousands of agents every month and they dont even care about fixing this problem.Either they make double or tripple transactions and when it comes to refunding the amount they wont even respond or worst will never get back to you.So many customers have complained against them in the consumer court /grievance cell and all the government does is play the blame-game.Even though Thomas Cook is also another website which allows booking,I have never been able to cross the payment gateway.If Irctc is reading this please try to rectify this situation.Not only you are charging excess for the online payment but also your giving us the most disgusting service ever provided.And you claim INDIAN RAILWAYS to be the most profitable organization.No wonder its true.If you keep cheating like this and ensure that monopoly in railway industry is perennial then you are destined for greatness.
